Jennifer Cortez is a master’s candidate at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, where she is supported by a Dean’s Merit Fellowship and the Rubén Salazar Scholarship from the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She is also a fellow at the University of B ritish Columbia's Global Reporting Program, where she is reporting alongside international fellows to report on education.

She was most recently a reporting intern at Mission Local. Her work has previously screened at Ojai Film Festival and Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Prior to graduate school, she was a high school English and journalism teacher in the Coachella Valley, where she was recognized as Teacher of the Year.
