My approach to teaching is based on a foundation of access, DIY approaches, community collaboration and engagement, valuing and acknowledging multiple forms of knowledge, and an interdisciplinary approach to the English discipline that emphasizes social value.
I first began working in public education in 2014 as a guest teacher and earned my single subject teaching credential in English from Cal State San Bernardino’s Palm Desert Campus in 2016.
In a rather serendipitous turn of events, I was placed at my alma mater as a student-teacher. And for the next two school years, I served at the same school site as an English II, English III, Journalism I-IV teacher, as well as the adviser of the school newspaper.
Working with young people has been the greatest joy of my life. I believe in their greatness. In their creativity. In their ingenuity. In their compassion. In their generosity. In their conviction. In their determination. In their kindness.
